Vejam só o que encontrei na feira de Espinho. Não só foi barato como a embalagem é uma pérola. A senhora, rainha segundo consta, tem um ar muito sereno e satisfeito (apesar do pescoço comprido, que não deve dar jeito nenhum). E o título “Rainha das costureiras” é impagável. Ainda nem tive coragem de abrir a embalagem só para não a estragar.

Probably this is not so funny for my english readers. I found this bolt of elastic in a fairy held every Monday in a city near where I live. It is written “Seamstress Queen”, and I just love the picture and, of course, the title of the queen. And the girl had such a peaceful and happy look on her face, despite the oh-so-long neck. I am reluctant to open the package just because I don’t want to tear the beautiful lady apart.

Mais uma encomenda. E que bem que ficam em exposição. Como eu gostava de ter um cantinho de costura apresentável (sim, é só um canto na sala de estar, porque um quarto só para costura nunca vou ter) para vos mostrar!

Another package arrived (how I love mail). And they look great on top of my sewing table. I wish I had a more presentable sewing spot (yes, it is just a spot, because I will never have a sewing room) to show you.

Ok, não acabou de chegar, já o desfolhei (muitas vezes) e tem projectos fantásticos.

Lembram-se deste post, ora aqui fica o resultado final. As opiniões foram muitas, online e pessoalmente e no final este foi o resultado.
Todo o exterior desta mantinha foi feita com tecido 100% algodão, com algodão de patchwork no topo e uma flanela muito macia atrás. O interior é um cobertor de malha polar. Foi a minha primeira tentativa de "quiltar" alguma coisa e tenho a dizer que é bem mais difícil do que a partida parece. No entanto, o resultado é fantástico! O que acham?

Remember this post, well here is the final product. The opinions where many, online and personaly and in the end this was what happened. 
All the exterior fabric of this baby blaket is 100% cotton, with quilting cotton on top and a very soft and cozy flannel in the back. Inside I used some fleece. It was my very first attempt to kind-of-quilting something and I have to say it is much harder than it looks. However, the end result is amazing! What do you think?

Regresso às aulas / Back to school

Bom dia! Como foi o fim-de-semana? Por cá o sol fez-nos sair de casa e aproveitar este Verão-em-Outubro que por cá se vive. Embora as aulas já tenham começado há 2-3 semanas, tenho vindo a equipar os meus filhos para o regresso às aulas.

Para podermos abdicar de embrulhos descartáveis atirei-me aos sacos… para o pão, bolachas ou até para levar o lanche. O futuro dono escolheu os tecidos, que segundo ele são tecidos de cowboys e são os seus favoritos!

E etiquetas para ir tudo bem identificado, mais uma vez as cores foram escolhidos pelo próprio. E uma etiqueta para a bata do pequenino.

 

E o vosso fim-de-semana, como foi? O que têm andado a fazer?

Hi! How was your weekend? Here the sun was shining and we went outside to enjoy this Summer-in-October we are experiencing here in Portugal. Although the school has started for 2-3 weeks, I have been working on some back to school gear.

To avoid using disposable wraps I did some small fabric bags. They can hold pretty much every small item a kid takes to school: a sandwich, some crackers, an apple. My boy picked the fabrics, he loves this All star fabric, according to him these are cowboys fabrics!

I also made a larger lunch bag to put all the items inside, but I forgot to take pictures of it.

Amizade online / online friendship

Eu adoro receber correio (desde que a sejam contas). Adoro a emoção de encomendar algo on-line e ir todos os dias ver na caixa do correio se já lá tenho o papelinho dos CTT para ir levantar a encomenda. Ou melhor, estar em casa e a carteira (sim, o nosso carteiro é uma mulher) tocar a campainha para entregar a encomenda. Portanto, já deu para perceber que eu gosto mesmo de correio, certo? Então imaginei a minha alegria quando, um dia antes do meu aniversário, em Agosto, recebi um pacote surpresa. Se eu gosto de receber o que estou à espera, imaginem a minha emoção quando recebi uma surpresa! E foi uma prenda , um presente da minha querida amiga Maria Cachucha. Um saco que ela tinha feito há um tempo atrás e postou no blog. Um saco que recebeu grandes elogios da minha parte! É perfeito, serve-me que nem uma luva, tem imenso espaço e um bolso para eu não perder as chaves e o telemóvel (como sempre) e até dá para levar o meu almoço para o trabalho. Eu adoro-o,não só porque é um saco fantástico, mas acima de tudo porque foi feito por uma pessoa muito especial e que eu nunca vi. Obrigada por seres minha amiga, MJL.

 I love receiving mail (as long as its not bills). I love the excitement of ordering something online and go check the mailbox everyday to see if there is a note from the postoffice telling me to pick up my order. Or better, be at home and have the mailwoman (yes, ours is a lovely mail woman) deliver my package. So you get the picture, I really love it. So, the day before my birthday, back in August, I received a surprise package. If I like to receive what I am expecting imagine my thrill when I got this one! And it was a gift, a gift from my dear friend Maria Cachucha. A bag she had made a while ago and posted to her blog, which received major compliments from me! It fits me like a glove has plenty of room and even carries my lunch to work. I love it because it is a great bag, but most of all because it was made by a very special person that I have never seen. It's great to have you as a friend, MJL.
