Vrooom... Car Playmat

Já vos disse o quanto gosto do livro Sewing for boys? Pois gosto mesmo e lembrem-se que não sou paga para publicitar o livro, mas acho-o um oásis num deserto moldes para meninas. Para o meu filhote mais novo decidi que o Car Playmat seria a prenda de Natal ideal. No final, foi a prenda ideal para ele, para o meu filho mais velho e para todas as crianças (meninas incluídas) que tiveram oportunidade de brincar com ele. É um projecto muito compensador.

 Investe-se um pouco de tempo nos pormenores, casas, arbustos, etc, mas ver os olhos dos miúdos a brincar com o tapete é uma excelente recompensa. Eu adicionei uma "garagem" para guardar os carrinhos e poder transportá-los: foi um sucesso!

Have I told you how much I love the book Sewing for boys? Just remember I don't get paid to advertise the book I just think it is an oasis in a desert of girls patterns. For my youngest boy I decided the Car Playmat was a perfect gift for Christmas. And it turned out to be the perfect gift for him, for the oldest and for all the other kids (girls included) who had the chance to play with it! 

It is such a rewarding project, you invest some time in embelishing the mat but then you see your kids eyes and it all pays off! I added a "garage" to take the cars along: total success!

"Thomas, the tank engine", também conhecido por Tomás e amigos, um sucesso junto das criancinhas. Este é um tecido que nunca compraria para ter na minha colecção, mas foi um pedido especial que eu não podia negar. Resultado final: giro!


"Thomas, the tank engine" is a big hit around the kids. This is the kind of fabric I woluld never buy to have on my stash, but it was a special request that I couldn't deny. End result: cute!

Pijamas / Matching PJs

Este ano fiz pijamas de Natal para os garotos. Aproveitei uma promoção e comprei esta flanela super macia e giríssima da Riley Blake designs. Porque não tinha quantidade para fazer igual para os dois, optei por fazer a parte de cima com um padrão e a de baixo com outro, isto porque já sei que se faço pijamas diferentes tenho problemas na certa! Assim, agarrei na minha preciosidade, o Sewing for Boys e em vez de fazer o pijama que lá vem, usei o molde da "Easy linen shirt" para a parte de cima e o molde das calças do "Goodnight, Sweetheart PJs". Ficaram perfeitos, super confortáveis e muito quentinhos.
Claro está que tirar fotos na manhã de Natal após receberem toneladas de brinquedos é difícil e as caras de almofada não ajudam muito ;)

This year I made Christmas pajamas for the boys. I grabed a deal this super soft and cute Riley Blake flannel. I didn't had enough yardage to make matching tops and bottoms similar to both of them and I knew that if I went for different PJs I would be in trouble. So I did the tops from a fabric and the bottoms from another: matching PJs without matching top and bottoms! I looked into my Sewing for boys bible and instead of making the "Goodnight, Sweetheart PJs" it just grabbed the bottom pattern and made the top with the "easy linen shirt" pattern. It turned out great, super cozy and warm.
Of course, taking pictures on Christmas morning is a sacrifice when you have received tons of presents. And lets face it, the pillow faces don't help ;)

1º Aniversário / 1st blog birthday

Passou um ano desde que comecei este blog (na realidade foi ontem mas esqueci-me.. sim, sou assim tão boa com datas). Aprendi muito, costurei muito e devo dizer que evolui imenso! Para celebrar esta data importante vou oferecer 2 charm packs e um mix de fitas e botões da minha colecção pessoal. Well, a year has passed (yesterday, actually) and I have learned a lot, I have sewn a lot and I have improved a ton!
