For my mom's birthday I made this little tote just to use as the present warp. It isn't interfaced or linned, but I made some french seams to make it look a bit more finished. I don't know if you can see the fabric in my indoors, night crappy pictures, but it is from a new ikea collection that as just been released in Portugal. It's adorable and so soft.

Consertar III e re-utilizar / Mend III and re-purpose
Uma história em imagens, com legendas.
A story in pictures, with captions.
A story in pictures, with captions.
A pair of jeans with a torn knee, lets call it pants A.
Another pair of pants with a torn knee ?!!!??!? (Pants B)
Cortar B abaixo do rasgão (uh?).
Cut B below the torn (uh?).
Mend in a really cool way!
Hem and... brand new shorts (or almost new) for the coming summer days.
E o resto? Fazer joelheiras para as calças A!
And the rest? Make knee pads for pants A!
Joelheiras fixes, claro!
Cool knee pads, of course!
Brick Bag - SFB
Ainda passei uns dias à volta deste menino.
Another project the book Sewing for Boys, if these girls aren't geniuses, I don't know who is! I struggled a bit on this one, I have to admit. I spent a few days around this beauty. Along the way I thought it was not going to work, but in the end after the seams were closed it was beautiful! It was my first zipper, or the first two zippers and they were perfect. The bag is sturdy and my Lego fanatic boy was thrilled. Those little slots for the mini figures are really cool! Needless to say I did mess up and put the pockets in the opposite direction and perhaps this has been one of the reasons why I struggled so much with this project. I kept looking at it and thinking: the pockets are so close together and not at all like the picture of the book... maybe if I had looked at it carefully I could realize my mistake. But I managed to shove all the pockets in there and this way the pieces cannot fall once the bag is closed!

Bias tape rainbow, totaling 40 metres, for an upcoming project. I couldn't resist posting such colorful photos.
Remember my out of control stash? It didn't include only fabric. All kinds of sewing notions were out of control or difficult to visualize / reach. So I decided to put an end to it and make it appealing to the eye. So I organized buttons, bias tape, ribbon, trims and labels. All this was made re-purposing used packages (I am a biologist, after all): glass jars from coffe with spray painted lids (some still need painting), glass cups from yougurt with cork covers, plastic boxes from chocolats and card board from my father's boxes of dialysis stuff. Cheap and clean. Now I need to do something about my spools of thread...
