Arco-Íris / Rainbow

Lembram-se deste post? Onde me gabei da quantidade astronómica de fita de viés que comprei e das lindas cores que consegui juntar? Na altura não revelei para que a queria, pois agora fica aqui a história toda.

A educadora do meu filho mais novo decidiu celebrar o dia da mãe de forma diferente: pediu às mães para cada uma escolher um dia e ir fazer uma actividade com os meninos todos. Eu lembrei-me que seria giro fazer uma sessão de decoração de bolachas.
E foi! Foi giríssimo! Os miúdos divertiram-se, eu diverti-me a até a educadora decorou uma bolachinha.

Levei o meu ajudante mais velho que não quis perder a diversão.Fiz bolachas grandes para a área de decoração ser generosa e

fiz bolachinhas pequeninas para irmos “petiscando”. 

Corei côco ralado

e fiz glacé real também colorido.

Juntei uns sprinklers de açucar

e umas pepitas de chocolate e assim fizemos a festa!

E porque um bom cozinheiro / pasteleiro precisa de proteger a roupa, fiz aventais para todos os meninos.

Remember this post? Where I bragged about the astronomic amount of bias tape I bought and the beautiful colors I could put together? At the time I didn’t reveal the project, but now you get the chance to read the whole story.
 My youngest son kindergarten teacher decided to celebrate Mother's Day (here in Portugal it's on the first Sunday of May) differently, she asked the mothers to each pick a day and to do an activity with all the kids in the classroom. I thought it would be really cool to do a session of cookie decorating. And it was! It was so much fun! The kids had fun, I had fun and even the teacher decorated a cookie. I took my oldest helper who didn’t want to miss the fun.

 I made big cookies to have a large area to decorate (the kids have between 2 and 3 years old)

 I did small cookies for the kids to snack.

Although some snacked on the big cookies!

Colored some dried coconut 

And made frosting with all the colors of the rainbow (and some more)
 

I added some sugar sprinklers

 and a few chocolate chips and ​​the party was set!
And because a good cook / baker needs to protect his cloths, I made ​​aprons for everyone.

Saídos da Concha

Alguns dos que aqui me lêem conhecem bem a Constança Cabral, um sucesso a nível nacional, mesmo estando “sediada” em Inglaterra. Pois eu tive a sorte de ser a feliz contemplada num giveaway que a Concha fez no seu blog.

 Há umas semanas (quase 1 mês) recebi no correio o meu prémio e com ele vinham um postal e um miminho, tudo cuidadosamente embrulhado. É por estas e por outras que a Constança tem tanto sucesso: há pessoas realmente especiais! 

Some of you who read me know Constança Cabral perfectly, she is a very successful blogger with such an eye for beautiful. Luckily I was the happy winner of a giveaway that Concha held on the blog. So, some weeks ago (almost a month now) I got my prize in the mail. 

The most beautiful notepad, carefully wrapped, a postcard and a small sachet of dried lavender that gave the whole package the most amazing scent. Some people are really special and Constança is one of them!

Sewing for Boys –Sew Along (Late April)

Passou-se a semana, chegou o fim-de-semana e passaram-se mais 3 semanas entretanto… Eu (ainda) não me esqueci que tenho este cantinho, mas nem sempre o trabalho permite que eu me dedique a costurar e a vir aqui mostrar o que tenho feito. Por essa mesma razão, tenho só costurado!

 Hoje venho aqui apresentar um projecto que fiz ainda em Abril, as "Treasure Pocket Pants", para participar no Sewing for boys Sew Along do blog Boy, Oh, Boy, Oh boy!, mas que não tive oportunidade de fotografar e por isso a minha participação ficou de fora. 

Mesmo assim, dediquei-me à causa e fiz umas calças para o rapaz mais velho, a partir de umas calças minhas, quase novas que rasgaram mesmo por baixo do rabo e umas calças que uma amiga me deu, também elas quase novas e rasgadas no rabo (o que dizer disto?!?).

Lá desenhei o molde, cortei as peças e quando estava a coser apercebi-me que uma das peças estava errada… fui pesquisar e descobri que há uma errata para o Sewing for Boys, que teria sido muito útil ANTES de cortar as calças. Mas o dano não foi muito, aconteceu apenas que tive que as fazer mais estreitas, o que tendo em conta a elegância do meu rapaz até dá jeito!

The week went by, the weekend came and it took me 3 more weeks to come here again... but I (still) have not forgotten this little place in the www, but work doesn’t always allow me to sew and come here to show what I have done. As I had to choose, I sewed!

Today I have a project that was made ​​in April, the "Treasure Pocket Pants", to participate in Sewing for boys Sew Along on the Boy, Oh, Boy, Oh boy! blog, but I did not have time to take pictures, so my participation was left out. Still, I dedicated myself to the cause and made pants for the older boy. 

 I used some nearly new jeans of mine that tear right below the tush and some other pair of corduroy pants also almost new and also ripped right below the tush (what about this?!?). I copied the pattern, cut the pieces and set myself to sew. 

 Along the way I realized one of the pieces is incorrect… as I was trying to figure out what went wrong I found an errata for the book on the internet, which would have been so useful if I had found it BEFORE I had cut the pants! But the damage wasn’t that big I just had to make them more narrow, which considering the elegance of my boy was actually a good thing!

Finalmente fim-de-semana / Finally weekend

Os dias têm sido esgotantes, com várias tarefas completamente diferentes a decorrerem em simultâneo. Se eu sou capaz de multitasking? Sou! Mas tenho que dormir bem. Quando o trabalho obriga a meter mãos à obra de dia e pensar de noite..... Chego ao final da semana como hoje, de rastos mas com esperança de recuperar no fim-de-semana!

Entretanto e para me animar um bocadinho, recebi uma encomendazita por correio. Tecidos que encomendei com especial carinho porque com eles tenciono fazer algo para ficar cá em casa, para nós! Gostam?

These last few days have been very tiring, with several different tasks taking place simultaneously. If I am capable of multitasking? I am! But I have to sleep well. When the work requires hand work during the day and brain work during the night ..... so today, being friday I am completely beaten up,but with high hopes of recovering during the weekend!

However, and to cheer me up a bit, I received a delicious order. Fabrics I choose with special care as I intend to make something for our home, for us! Do you like it?
